ABOUT THE WYLIE EAST BAND

The Wylie East Band Program has a history of excellence. Students make lifelong friendships and memories in the Pride of the East, and learn that discipline and citizenship are among the driving forces behind the success of the band. Without these things, it is impossible to reach maximum potential as a musician.

Since 2011 the Wylie East High School Band has earned 13 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards. The band program has 4 contest-level concert bands. The concert bands have participated in festivals in all around the country. The Wind Symphony was a 2015 and 2023 featured band at the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis and also a 2013, 2014 Mark of Excellence winner.

The Pride of the East marching band has received First Divisions in the UIL marching competition for the past 13 consecutive years. Recently, they have been a UIL 5A State level marching band in 2019 and 2021, and in their first two years in 6A were UIL State marching band participants.

Wylie East also offers two jazz bands that consistently receive superior ratings at festivals and perform throughout the school year.

The Wylie East Band program’s commitment is to help children develop life skills through the art of music. Among these skills are discipline, citizenship, responsibility, and leadership. We also hope to create a love and understanding of music through performance, preferably top-notch performance, which we can all be proud of.

Feeder Pattern

The Wylie East High School Band is built by musicians trained by their fantastic band teachers at Davis Intermediate School, Harrison Intermediate School, McMillan Junior High School, and Burnett Junior High School.
