The Pride of the East

All students in grades 9–12 participate in the Wylie East High School Marching Band. The Wylie East Band promotes student involvement by providing multiple performance opportunities designed to meet the individual needs of all students. The Pride of the East is made up of 250 students who compete at the UIL Region, Area, and State levels, as well as in all other performances scheduled throughout the school year, including invitational contests, marching festivals, and Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National events.

Since 2011, the Wylie East High School Band has earned 15 consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards. The Pride of the East Marching Band has earned First Division ratings at the UIL Region Marching Contest for 15 consecutive years. The ensemble advanced to the UIL 5A State Marching Contest in 2019 and 2021 and, following the school's reclassification to 6A, qualified for the UIL 6A State Marching Contest in each of its first two appearances.
